We naturally create moisture in our homes through cooking, showering and washing - with a typical family creating more than 3000 litres of moisture a year. Without proper ventilation this can lead to damp and mould growing which can in turn lead to respiratory illnesses and other issues. At the very least you should install extractor fans in your bathroom and a rangehood in your kitchen and make sure you have good opening windows. But, if you'd like an even healthier home, choose a ventilation system which removes moist air from inside and circulates fresh outside air.

Air conditioning and heat pump servicing - keeping your systems functioning efficiently
When your heat pump is serviced regularly, both the quality of the heat and the air conditioning is maintained alongside ensuring that your pump is running in the most cost-effective way too.
We recommend that your heat pump is serviced once a year or six-monthly if it gets a lot of use.
A service includes checking, servicing and cleaning of filters, fans and ducting of both the inside and the outside units. We use biodegradable cleaners and a CoilJet machine, to clean the coils on the condensers without the need to strip the units - saving us time and you money.

Healthy Homes inspections for landlords
If you own a rental property, then you now have to comply with standards which became law in 2019 designed to make rental homes drier, warmer and healthier to live in. These Healthy Home standards set levels that landlords need to meet for heating, ventilation, insulation, moisture and draughts.
They include minimum levels of ceiling and underfloor insulation and guidelines around heating and ventilation that must be present in the property.
All properties with new or renewed tenancies after July 2021 must comply with the standards within 90 days. All properties are expected to comply with standards by July 2024.
If you currently own a rental property or you are thinking of turning a property into a rental, DBS Electrical can carry out a Healthy Homes inspection to help you determine whether you comply with standards and where improvements need to be made.
